Last Thursday April 18th Saturn, the ruler of karma, fate and destiny turned retrograde and will be until September 6th. Just as Mercury turns direct, Saturn reverses motion, joining Jupiter retrograde since March 9th and Pluto reversed on April 22nd. It’s important to remember that retrogrades are about perspectives. Just as the backward motion of a retrograde planet is apparent rather than actual, the effects of retrogrades are on the way we see things. I have said frequently that life has to go on and we cannot get caught up in Astrological paranoia.
In the week surrounding Saturn’s station as it turns retrograde, we can begin to feel the weight of our responsibilities quite heavily. During this cycle it is important to maintain a sense of purpose and intention.
This is all due to a change in our perspective. However, as we accustom ourselves to the shift, the retrograde cycle becomes an opportunity period for review and reassessment. Attempts to reconnect with the purpose of our structures, limits, and duties can aid this process. Slowing down makes sense. Expansion or additions to our existing responsibilities and projects can be stressful now. The best approach is to reduce and simplify. Delays may occur now, but these give us the chance to correct our errors and refine our work. Saturn retrograde is a bit of a “shedding period”, a topic which I will present in video form soon.
The areas of life affected by Saturn’s retrograde are those ruled by the house that Saturn rules in our natal charts (where Capricorn is) and those ruled by the house in which Saturn is currently transiting. For example, if you have Capricorn on the seventh house cusp (in other words, you have a Cancer Ascendant) and Saturn is currently transiting your sixth house, then the areas of life most influenced by Saturn retrograde would be partnerships and negotiations (seventh house) as well as work, habits, routines, and health (sixth house).
Editing our current projects or returning to old projects can be very successful. Brand new major projects may not be favored. This is the time to simplify and restructure.
Saturn transits and cycles can be considered cycles of achievement and maturity. When Saturn forms a hard aspect to a personal point in our chart, we might feel that everything is slowed down–we encounter delays, frustrations, and pressures. But these times also challenge us to face reality, thereby opening ourselves up to increased wisdom and the freedom that comes with living in truth. Saturn makes us focus!
Significant decisions are often made during Saturn’s hard transits to our personal planets. These transits slow life down (or at least, that is how we perceive it) and force us to live our lives in the present. Although Saturn transits can make life feel like a drudgery, they also give us the opportunity to gain inner strength, to become more responsible for what we do and say, and to cut out waste or excesses in our lives. Basically, what happens is a form of paring or slimming down in the area of life affected by Saturn. We are getting rid of things in our lives that are not working for us in the real world, and focusing on improving and strengthening the things that do serve a useful purpose. Thus, during this period be realistic about projects and especially during the overlap with Jupiter retrograde (until July 10th) do not over estimate things.
Saturn transits can also be considered times of conservation in whatever area of life that Saturn is affecting. We generally build up our reserves and conserve our energy during these periods. Delays and little but irksome problems might be experienced. Things break down, our needs often go unmet by others, we often feel misunderstood and even left out, we tend to find others harsh and unsympathetic (although this is often a perception thing – we, in fact, may be lacking a sense of humor), and we often feel burdened or put upon.
Saturn transits teach us to take responsibility for ourselves. At the outset of a Saturn transit, we might feel like the world is a cold place. If we are mature, we will at some point come to the realization that we cannot always pass blame for the problems in our lives. We need to reach within and pull out our own inner strength — to rely on ourselves.
Depression can be a byproduct of heavy Saturn transits. However, if we focus our energies into meaningful endeavors without pushing too hard for recognition or support from others, we can fight the inclination towards a gloom-and-doom attitude. Saturn reminds us of reality and the need for greater self-discipline. Re-organizing the area of life represented by the house or personal point that Saturn is “hitting” can lead to great rewards. Remember that Saturn transits do not completely flatten us, by all means. Instead, they slow us down, force us to live in the here and now, keep us from taking unnecessary risks, and help us to build and structure our lives in ways that will benefit us later. Saturn retrograde is a time to forgive and clean up karma, or said even better, clean up old biz.
The glyph for Saturn j is the sickle of Kronos, the god of time. When Saturn is retrograde, we buy time. Another quirky aspect of Saturn retrograde is difficult breakups. Relationships can re-ignite when Saturn is reversed. There seems to be some smoldering ash can flames up again during this cycle. Saturn retrograde can also be a time not to break a contract. Because Saturn rules business and government, if you filed a tax extension for 2018, that’s a good thing; but don’t wait until September to get your taxes done. When Saturn turns direct, it picks up speed fast like a runaway locomotive!
Ultimately Saturn retrograde can be a very good thing…depending on your perspective.

This article is somewhat lengthy however I recommend you read all of it. Yes, it is that time again. Breathe!
Mercury is retrograde in Aries from March 22nd to April 15th. Mercury’s shadow period began March 8th, 2018, and ends May 3rd, 2018.
As the planet of communication, Mercury retrograde tends to breed a certain level of confusion. Mercury rules the third house, our “lower” mind–how we perceive and interpret information that we receive from our environment, and how we relay it to others. Mercury has ruler-ship over such things as speaking, negotiating, buying and selling, listening, formal contracts, travel, the mail, and so forth. All of these areas of life are affected when Mercury is operating in a sluggish state. Remember mythology students, Mercury is the busy god, the messenger.
Think of Mercury retrograde as when Mercury himself is tired and overworked.
Decision-making is challenged during Mercury retrograde. This is a time to be careful how we filter information to avoid the “he said, she said” situations. Things can seem fuzzy. Needless to say, it is not advised to sign contracts, engage in important decision-making, or launch a new business. Delays and challenges are more probable with Mercury retrograde. It’s a time when being careless with money, our personal information, or paperwork can be costly. However if the details have been worked and agreed to prior to Mercury retrograde, putting pen to paper is merely a formality.
While Mercury is retrograde, we may be rethinking a previous opinion or idea. Looking to the signs and houses it transits in your personal chart can give clues as to what we may be reconsidering. Another component of Mercury in retrograde is communication from the past. I hear from clients I haven’t heard from in years.
Mercury retrograde in Aries:
The sign Mercury is retrograde in plays a huge role in how we proceed at this time. This is a time for reconsidering an initiative or venture. It’s strong for returning to an old project. It can be a time of tension, however, as Mercury in Mars-ruled Aries wants immediate answers and retrograde Mercury can point to delays and indecision. The shortness of Mercury in Aries communications is magnified making it necessary to be especially careful with our choice of topics and wording. The chances of sharp or cynical comments doing damage is high. Even though Mercury in Aries prefers the new to the old, we might consider renewing past ventures where we may have had false starts, but this should be done in a new way for things to work this time around. With Mercury in Aries, we prefer to learn from hands-on experience rather than instruction, and not listening during this Mercury retrograde period can be especially costly. With Mercury in Aries, think before you act.
Keep in mind that Mercury in Aries’ haste to communicate can work against us or can be more consequential during Mercury retrograde as there can be texts or emails sent to the wrong people, for example, or quick commentary that’s considered careless. Also don’t rely on one form of communication or assume a person received your message.
There is absolutely a positive side to Mercury Retrograde. This period is best used for re-organizing and reflecting. We look at the world a little differently–through different filters–and can come up with some very important inner revelations. It may be difficult to communicate them under this influence, but not everything needs to be rationalized.
Mercury retrograde periods can be times of increased consciousness, when meditation, keeping a journal, reworking old plans, and reviewing past work are good. Mercury retrograde is powerful for studies, particularly for returning to old studies or for re-learning or refreshing knowledge in a subject already taken. It is important to note that there is absolutely no reason to suspend projects or anything of the sort during the Mercury Retrograde cycle. It’s not an ideal time to start new ones or to sign contracts, simply because a change of mind is quite likely once Mercury turns direct. However, it’s a fabulous time to do some creative thinking. However, acting on our ideas might be best left for a Mercury Direct period. I have said many times, sometimes you have to do what you have to do thus don’t cave in to Astrological Paranoia.

The NEW MOON/SOLAR ECLIPSE occurs on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 1:06 PM PST.
First of all, Happy Valentine’s Day!
On Thursday afternoon, the New Moon occurs in the sign of Aquarius. Since this is a Solar Eclipse, its effects can impact the coming six months. In the sign of Aquarius, friendship, social structure, group activities, institutions, humanitarian efforts, or joining a new group can be in sharp focus, prompting new beginnings with these matters. Aquarius rules the 11th house; the love you receive.
This is a time when we might solve problems that require thinking “outside of the box”; look to the future with a brand new, positive, and hopeful attitude; brainstorm and socialize; focus on reaching out, receiving support, or expressing love for those around us; revitalize ourselves through experiences that are new or simply different; reach out to people in our social circles and recognize the value of our friends. With Aquarius/Uranus energy, expect the unexpected!
Some level of detachment and distancing ourselves from our habits and attachment to the past can help us break away from destructive behaviors that are holding us back. With this potent Aquarius energy, we have the chance to make progressive changes in our lives. For some of us, circumstances are such that we need to pay more attention to these matters. Flaws in an important system in our lives are revealed around the time of the eclipse, prompting us to redo or to start fresh. Something ends in order for something else to start anew. Since this an Aquarian New Moon we may find there is a hyper sensitivity in the air. This is not a good time for confrontations to those around us. Also, due to the alignment of this eclipse with other planets, do not over estimate circumstances and projects.
Get out there and socialize!
There are many unanswered questions from 2017 that will be answered in the New Year. The biggest question coming out of the chaotic past 365 days is “where is the good news?”
There are major planetary shifts in the coming year that will have an impact on the world. One already happened on December 19th. Saturn, the ruler of karma, lessons, focus, reality and obstacles has moved from Sagittarius into Capricorn, where Saturn is dignified (it rules Capricorn) and feels at home. Saturn will be in the sign of Capricorn until December 17th 2020.
The next three years will be about recognizing whether you are on your correct career path. During that time, people who put in the work will be acknowledged and respected for their efforts. Why is this? Because Saturn and Capricorn rule the tenth house, the house of public life, career, reputation and success. But, you have to do the work!
Conservation is key in this period too.
If you need to cut your losses on something that is not working then do so. It’s better to tear down and rebuild because Saturn will reveal weaknesses.
We will witness order out of chaos beginning in 2018. The rebuilding process will be slow but sure, and it will create long term stability. Because this is a midterm election year in the US, look for a huge turnover in Congress. Saturn in Capricorn does not favor incumbents whose past performances were unproductive. Quite frankly all government and business leaders who have prospered under excess especially while Saturn was in Sagittarius will be under extreme scrutiny.
We will experience reality without pessimism but must have the courage to face truth. Trim the fat and apply “quality over quantity.”
Above all, do whatever it takes to succeed; practice makes perfect.
If you are a Capricorn, this can be a great time for you. The signs who will have to step it up a bit are Aries, Cancer and Libra. For Taurus and Virgo, grab the low hanging fruit. No matter what your sign is, make the effort.
Where is Capricorn in your chart? If you would like to know how this affects you, please contact me.
A special offer for 2018… Make this year the best one yet.
Pisces New Moon
A NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE occurs on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at 6:58 AM PST.
On Sunday, a powerful New Moon occurs in Pisces. It’s powerful because it's a Solar Eclipse. Because this solar eclipse happens in the sign of Pisces, imagination, dreams, ideals, compassion and the psyche are highlighted. This eclipse is especially about new beginnings and taking a leap of faith. Our beliefs, and how we accept our deeper selves will dictate how we view our imperfections and karma. How do we use our imagination, perspective and intuition, to rise above physical limitation to achieve our dreams?
Here’s one trivial prediction related to tomorrow’s eclipse: Expect surprise winners at The Oscars! People in various categories who never dreamed they would take Oscar home will win.
This is a time when we should build our powers of acceptance, shoot for the stars and let go of petty annoyances. We need to revitalize ourselves through experiences that require imagination, sensitivity or that simply represent a "break" from the routine by rising above perceived limitations. We are constantly weighed down by the laws of gravity. What about the laws of levity? For some of us, circumstances are such that we need to pay more attention to our spirituality or find ways to loosen up and lighten up.
We may find ourselves focused on the area of life ruled by Pisces in our charts. We may be tearing down and rebuilding the Pisces areas of the chart. For you who are familiar with your charts, look at how your 12th house is affected, the house that is ruled by Pisces and where transiting Neptune is currently. Over the next few days, record your dreams and look for messages. And last but not least, take care of your mental and physical health.
From this New Moon Solar eclipse some of you may get in touch with some form of calling, or simply something you have been waiting for finally happens. Use Tuesday as a significant fresh start day. What you start on this eclipse can be experienced up to six months from tomorrow…make it good! Use tonight to meditate on your issues at hand to ensure to have a solid plan of action tomorrow.
Events that are dominated by Pisces and Neptune can be very nebulous. If you would like your personal chart interpreted, please contact me for a private consultation.
What is Venus Retrograde? Occasionally, Venus appears to be moving backwards in the sky. "Appears" is the key word here, because, technically speaking, no planet actually moves backwards in their orbits around the Sun. In fact, they don't even slow down. Retrograde-station-direct cycles are essentially illusions that result from our point of view from Earth, simply because the Earth is also orbiting the Sun at a different speed than the other planets. Venus is Retrograde approximately 40-43 days every 18 months.
Venus stations and turns retrograde on March 4th at 1:09 AM PST in the sign of Aries, entering Pisces on April 3rd, and continues to retrograde until April 15th 3:18 AM PDT.
As the planet of love and values, Venus retrograde periods are times when we re-assess what—and who—we value. It is a period that many astrologers consider inopportune for getting married or starting a new relationship. Major financial undertakings are not advised during this period either. Venus retrograde cycles are good times for creating budgets and financial plans, and for re-thinking our personal relationships. Taking final action in the areas of finance and love, however, is not advised until Venus turns direct again.
Because Venus rules beauty and aesthetics, Venus Retrograde is a less than ideal time for beautification processes (new hairdos, enhancements, purchasing a new wardrobe, cosmetic surgery, and so forth), renovations, re-decorating, and the like. Because Venus is associated with social events, parties may not go as planned.
On the subject of love, past lovers may re-appear and some relationships may end.
Venus will be moving through Pisces then Aries, retrograding through Aries back to Pisces then going forwards, again in through Pisces and Aries. The Pisces influence is more slight so spring could feel chock full of Aries – that goes for fashions and beauty trends that honor the sign. With Venus in Aries we could be more assertive and impulsive, embracing the thrill of the chase where our time and money is concerned, we may re-assess our initiating, entrepreneurial values, thinking more about getting projects (and relationships) off the ground.
Old friends and lovers may re-appear, perhaps complicating current relationships. We may be called upon to deal with relationship issues from the past during this Venus retrograde cycle. Events occur that seem fated or pre-destined. It can be a real challenge getting close to a lover during this period of time. Unorthodox, experimental, and non-intimate relationships may be favored.
Affection is difficult to express in a natural or spontaneous manner. We might find others are lacking in sincerity or genuineness in their expressions of social niceties. (We may be inclined to do the same!).
Relationships that have been especially challenging may come to an end during this cycle. However, strong relationships will survive it, even if there are a few bumps and bruises along the way. This can be a good time for "eyes wide open" or experimental dating, although opinions and assessments may change at a later date. It is not a time when people recognize the need for another person to "complete" them. Some people may be questioning whether they are with partners who actually fulfill them. We may, however, be especially in touch with our deeper, less obvious, and less superficial needs and wants. This makes it a good time for re-evaluating our relationship needs; but, again, major love decisions are best saved for after the cycle ends on April 15th. Our perceptions may be skewed and we can come out of the retrograde cycle with regret if we have acted hastily, as the tendency to change our minds later is strong.
On the subject of Taurus influenced areas of money, finances, and possessions, do try to hold off on major purchases or financial decisions during this Venus retrograde cycle. For example, the purchase of a new house, car, or other big-ticket item could backfire in some manner later on. They may become money pits or cause problems for you; or you may change your mind later and regret your purchase.
There's nothing truly to fear about Venus retrograde, but it's always wise to take special care during this cycle. It's not the best period for entering into a new relationship, because our sensors when it comes to love are not up to par. However, it's not unheard of to begin a relationship under the influence of a retrograde Venus, and the relationship survives and/or thrives.
Venus rules our values, and when she is retrograde, we don't seem to be in touch with exactly what and who we value, or, some might say we are seeing things more or too clearly. After the retrograde cycle is over, we may look back and wonder what we were thinking. So, do what you can to avoid major decision making during Venus' retrograde cycle, but pay attention to your assessments to see if they last. A change of heart is possible later. And, the people we meet now may appear more fabulous than they turn out to be. It's also possible that some people we meet now may appear less attractive than they turn out to be! Whatever the case may be, try to hold off until May before making big decisions, particularly life-altering ones.
Still, we may not be as openly or obviously warm and affectionate during this cycle. It's hard to trust others just now, and, perhaps more so, it's difficult to trust our own instincts when it comes to judging others or our relationships. We tend to suspect insincerity in others. People might appear to be more selfish, withdrawn, and self-protective. It's hard to make headway in a direct manner in our love relationships for the time being. If you are hoping to fix a relationship or if you are trying to schedule a reunion, it may not be the best time to do so.
When breakups do occur in the second half of a Venus retrograde cycle, I have noticed they are imperfect. They are not often clean breaks. Couples and friends may reunite later or if they stay broken up, they might often wonder if it was the right thing to do - something is often left hanging. Venus retrograde is a period for clearing the decks and dealing with the past so as to move forward fresh and re-energized, and this is especially appropriate in the first three weeks of the cycle. During the second half of the retrograde cycle, watch for impulsiveness.
Then there is a feeling of the inevitable during a Venus retrograde. What happened in the past, including past love affairs, can flood our consciousness now. Sometimes, a past lover reappears in his or her physical form.
Keep in mind, Venus-ruled Taurus and Libra feel the impact of the retrograde more than the other signs. The house where Venus is retrograde plays a big role too. And of course look at where natal Venus is in your chart and which houses are ruled by Taurus and Libra.
If you would like more info about your chart, please contact me for a private consultation.
Pay attention to your behavior and emotional reactions over the next two days. Watch your boundaries, maintain them and respect your and other people’s boundaries. In other words, chill out!
On Friday night, a Full Moon occurs, when the Sun in Aquarius forms an opposition with the Moon in Leo. This Full Moon is especially potent, as it is a Lunar Eclipse. Lunar eclipses are relationship-oriented. The crisis that these eclipses tend to elicit is a crisis of lack – a time when we suddenly recognize a great need or want. Although Lunar eclipses are more relationship-oriented than Solar eclipses, they are not always about relationships between two people. They can ignite awareness of need in other areas of our lives, such as our relationship to work, to our health and bodies, etc. This is a time when matters come to light – things that have been brewing under the surface.
I have said repeatedly about burying issues: “You can only sweep so much dirt under the carpet, eventually there is a lump which cannot be ignored.”
This Lunar Eclipse presses us to look more closely at our needs, lacks, and wants in our lives. The Leo-Aquarius polarity deals with the balance between the personal (Leo) and the impersonal (Aquarius). This Full Moon urges us to strike a balance between romance and friendship. The Leo Moon is proud and intensely individual—not content with simply being just one of the team. The Aquarius Sun, while individualistic as well, values independence and the “team.” The Full Moon illuminates this conflict. Eclipses are tied to changing circumstances.
A Lunar eclipse is a more potent Full Moon, and its effects tend to last longer. The effects of a Lunar eclipse last approximately six months.
Full Moons and Lunar Eclipses bring issues in our lives to fulfillment. Our emotions are heightened, and there is often some sort of drama involved with the house, sign, and any contacted planets activated by the Full Moon. Look at 22-23 degrees of Leo/Aquarius in your own chart. This Lunar Eclipse gives us a push to make needed changes in our lives.
Jupiter Retrograde in Libra
This post is long, but important. Please read it all the way through...and thank you for reading it.
In the wee hours of Monday morning Jupiter turned retrograde motion and will be retrograde until June 9th. Jupiter retrograde lasts for 120 days and turns retrograde every thirteen months.
Transiting Jupiter retrograde represents a time of philosophical or spiritual introspection and reflection. During the previous months since Jupiter entered the retrograde zone, you will have recognized or had been dealing with particular issues involving growth, development, happiness, expansion or success.
Jupiter retrograde means that whatever area of your life you have been developing is so important, that extra time is needed to make sure everything in order before you continue. You may be tested to make sure you are ready to receive what you are asking for. However, it could be that a negative Jupiter behavior such as greed or addiction has been getting out of control. In this case, the Jupiter retrograde will offer a chance to acknowledge and address the problem. Things may get so out of control that an intervention or some drastic event must occur in order to shake you out of your unconscious behavior.
This also a good time to review finances with regard to investments, property and holdings. Can you get a better deal or loan? Just don’t bite off more than you can chew.
By the time Jupiter turns direct, you should have come to terms with the relevant issues and be prepared for the next phase. In the third and final Jupiter retrograde phase, from the direct station until Jupiter leaves the shadow period, positive growth lets you move forward and reap Jupiter’s benefits. There are really no bad aspects from Jupiter, just overindulgence and overkill. The key is knowing what house Jupiter is in you chart. Do you have significant planets in Sagittarius? If so, this has a bigger impact on you.
Unlike other retrograde planets, Jupiter retrograde 2017 is can be quite lucky and it’s an important time for achieving growth and contentment in a particular area of life that is important to you now. Unexpected good fortune is at hand with work, travel, education or a new relationship. Whatever your hopes for the future may be, this year’s Jupiter retrograde is an opportunity towards finding new ways to live out your dreams.
Currently Jupiter is in Libra until October and specifically with Jupiter in Libra, we attract the best fortune when we are fair-minded, treat others as equals, are compromising without being “doormats”, are gracious, and use our talents for promoting and mediating. The arts, architecture, law, math, mediating, and politics are possible avenues for increased success.
There can be heightened use of charm and grace to reach goals. Our social skills contribute to our sense of fulfillment and attract success. In other words, treat people the way you want to be treated.
What affect does Jupiter retrograde have on you?

Way back in early grade school days, there were work books that accompanied the Dick, Jane and Sally readers. They were called “Think and Do” workbooks.
The New Moon that occurs on Friday evening, marks the beginning of a new lunar cycle. In the sign of Aquarius, it’s time to “think and do.” Friendship, brotherhood, group activities, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, humanitarian efforts, or joining a group will be a strong focus on a personal level. New beginnings regarding all of these matters are possible now. When the Moon aligns with the Sun it is an opportunity to create new thinking and breaking from our comfort zones.
Uranus rules Aquarius, this is a time we should solve problems that require thinking “outside of the box” and color outside the lines. At the very least, be open to different perspectives. Look to the future with a brand new, positive, and hopeful vision; brainstorm and dream big. After all, Aquarius rules the 11th house which is not only our social structure but also “hopes, dreams and wishes.”
Focus on extending a friendly hand, receiving support, and expressing platonic love for those around us; give our emotions and passions a “break”, as we develop more objectivity and some detachment from our fears. Learn how something (or someone) works, Aquarius loves to take things apart and put them back together.
This is a good moment to revitalize ourselves through experiences that are new or simply different; reach out to people, and recognize the value of our friendships and social networks. Recognize that some level of detachment and distancing ourselves from our habits and attachment to the past will help us break away from destructive behaviors that are holding us back.
With this potent Aquarius energy, we have the chance to make progressive changes in our lives. For some of us, circumstances are such that we need to pay more attention to these matters. Because Uranus/Aquarius energy can bring sudden change, use this New Moon wisely, Uranus is the planet of revolution as well as evolution.
If you did not set New Year’s intentions, today is good time to Think and Do!
